IT IS A DISEASE THAT CAN BE OF INFECTIOUS TYPE, NOT INFECTIOUS OR BOTH THAT MAINLY AFFECTS THE SUPERIOR AIRWAY

ETIOLOGY

CLINIC

The following phases are presented: Incubation period: 7 to 10 days Catarrhal phase: clinical manifestations of mild infections of a few days, up to 2 weeks, with the presence of (runny nose, nasal congestion, sneezing) with involvement in the upper airway. ) Paroxysmal phase: This phase is presented from 2 to 8 weeks with the presence of a cough crisis, which can be either fifth or coke fluke of different intensity, depending on the level of crisis. Mild crisis: cough that does not produce hemoptysis or cyanosis.
Moderate crisis: when hemoptysis occurs.
Crisis severe: when cyanosis occurs. Phase convalecencia: In this phase is presented in week 8 to 12 weeks, which results in a regression of symptoms, where they disappear throughout the week or over the course of the month
Incubation phase: from 7 to 10 days, they are classified into 3 clinical phases. Catarrhal phase: This occurs from 7 to 14 days, the clinical manifestations, is shown as a respiratory infection with the presence of rhinorrhea, sore throat when swallowing and cough, however in some cases they are low fevers.
Paroxysmal phase: Its duration is from 2 to 6 weeks, where it refers to fifth-cough crisis (5 episodes of continuous cough), with presence of inspiratory stridor, which can be seen cyanosis, vomiting caused by cough along with refusal to consume foods.
Convalescence Phase: In this phase, the cough begins to decrease, there is no crisis, however, it can occur from 2 to 6 weeks, so care must be taken when contracting future viruses.
DIAGNOSIS Cough lasting longer than 2 weeks, plus one of the following:
• Paroxysmal cough.
Inspiratory Extruder
• Vomiting after coughing fits without other apparent cause.

It is characterized by: a fifth, paroxysmal cough that causes vomiting and cyanosis, with small intervals of apneas.

DIAGNOSTIC METHODS

Hemogram: Obtained with an increase in leukocytes with lymphocytosis that is suggestive of whooping cough. Culture: positive nasopharyngeal for Bordetella pertussis.

Culture: Nasopharyngeal, where Bordetella pertussis is negative, as well as a PCR. .
